getting ready...

I finished Isla's shirt to match the pink polka dot pants I made a couple weeks ago. I also finished the yellow ones too.

A girls gotta have options...

I ordered the quilting foot for my sewing machine so I can get started on my quilt.  I have been watching youtube videos on how to free motion quilt so I am working on a few smaller projects to practice my quilting when my foot arrives.  I made this today and I just threw it together.  It will make a cute changing pad for somebody...that is if I can quilt it pretty...

Raggy and a quilt (well, the top of one)...

I was getting discouraged with my quilt.  I felt like this little project has taken forever so I needed to do something to make me feel accomplished.  We have been at home all week as the boys are sick with colds.  They were playing and watching TV so I was able to work on another fun little project.  I am probably going to add to it (something purple down the sides) but here is my very first raggy quilt...

My idea worked because finishing the raggy motivated me to finish my quilt top.  I got lazy during the process and didn't iron when I should have so most of my time was spent ironing.

I am very happy with how it turned out.

I am so anxious to get to the fabric store and get the supplies to finish it!!!  More to come...

Getting somewhere...

I finished all 54 of my quilt blocks on Thursday!!!!

I was so happy to finally have them finished. I laid them out on the floor so I could see what it looked like...

I hated it!!!  So, I had to come up with a way to lay it out that would make me happy.  The only thing I knew to do was draw a picture and then remind myself that it is just a bunch of scraps sewn together so it isn't going to be phenomenal...

I have two rows sewn together. I sure hope the diagram idea worked because I didn't lay it out before I started sewing. This is a totally random quilt.

Pants...

I found this cute fabric and had no clue what I was going to make with it, but when I saw that Thursday was PJs and waffle day at Bryant's school I thought of it and knew it would be perfect for a pair of PJ pants.  I used my regular pant pattern and just added a drawstring.  They turned out so cute...

I also cut these and started sewing, but I need to pick up some elastic and also add a lining.  I plan to give these to my niece for the spring...

Here is the pacifier clip for my friend...

Enough playing around.  I need to get back to work on my quilt!!!  I really needed this break to feel accomplished and to help keep me motivated though.

For Alli and something special...

Alli, I finished your wreath for Baby Charlie.  I hope you like it...

Wreath includes:
18 size 1 diapers
Two 3-9 month onesie (weird size, but they were SS so I wanted to size up for weather)
3 baby spoons
1 travel size nightime baby lotion
1 purple pacifier
1 custom pacifier clip

Remember this teaser from my previous post...

Well, my first pacifier clips are complete!  As you can see on Baby Charlie's wreath.

Long story short....I had a friend ask me where I got Bradley's pacifier clip (preivously used by Bryant).  Well, we purchased the clip before Bryant was born at some random boutique in B'ham while shopping for our Glider.  So, that wasn't very helpful for my friend.  So, I decided that I would offer to make one for her.  Bradley needed a new one too, so here we are...

Bradley's new clip...

I still need to finish up the one for my friend.  I am so excited about this.  I love the Gumdrop pacifier and this clip works!

Alli, I also finished up Isla's pants.  The matching shirt will be a surprise.  I'm thinking Valentine's day, but also something she can wear after...

Scrappy...

I have been wondering what to do with all of my fabric scraps.  So, I decided to make a Scrappy Quilt.  I found a tutorial, here, on Pinterest and decided to just do it.  I did some prep work and cut out different sizes of scraps.  No measuring required...just cutting and ripping...

I just started picking threw my scraps, putting colors and patterns together that I thought looked cute and started sewing, ironing, trimming, and so on. I had a dozen blocks after two days....

It took the week to get to this many.  This is what 30 looks like...

My goal is 54 blocks which should be a full size quilt.  I first thought that I would find someone to do the finishing for me...batting, back, quilt and bind, but after much thought I decided that since this is my first one and the pieces aren't that meaningful to me, I am going to do it all myself.

I think I have made it to 43 blocks so just a few more to go and I am ready for the not so fun, hard, scary, time consuming part...Wish me luck!

I have also started a new little project that I am very excited about...here's a hint...
